Living Soil Amendment & Microbe Food
Herbi Living Soil Starter is ideal for building soil health, supporting natural management systems and feeding your soil community for healthier, vigorous plant growth. As a living soil amendment, it will help develop the microbial community, supporting and enhancing the soil food web for sustained growth and immunity. Mix it into your soil mix, use it as a top dressing, or living soil amendment.
We recommend combining Herbi’s Living Soil Starter with our Terra Nutes WORM+.
For heavy fruiting or flowering plants, we recommend transitioning to our Herbi Living Soil Bloom Booster during the growth cycle. For an example of dosage guidelines you can download here (v2.3, 07-2024).
The soil mix we recommend
Herbi SOIL contains all the goodness of other Herbi All-Natural products, making it a superior Living Soil Growing Mix. This super soil is enriched with Herbi Living Soil Starter, free of synthetic additives. It is packed with a wide range of natural ingredients, microbes/fungi/beneficial bacteria and enzymes.
Examples of DIY soil mixes we recommend
- 40% (washed) Coco, 30% Perlite or Pumice, 10-20% Worm castings (i.e. Terra Nutes WORM+), 10-20% (if available fungal dominated) compost, 1-2 cups Herbi’s All Natural 4-4-4 per 20L.
- 30% Peat Moss, 30% Perlite or Pumice, 10-20% Worm castings (i.e. Terra Nutes WORM+), 10-20% (if available fungal dominated) compost, 1-2 cups Herbi’s All Natural 4-4-4 per 20L.
Transplant the seedlings with a tsp of Herbi’s MYCOS+.
The recipe is a bit vague as it really depends on the quality of the worm castings and the compost. For best results, let it settle for 1-2 weeks before using it, with daily light watering with no drain (not flushing) before transplanting the seedlings. Start topdressing after you have transplanted the seedlings.
Do not
Herbi’s Living Soil Starter is stuffed with a wide variety of natural ingredients to support the development of a diverse soil ecosystem. Avoid adding any synthetic fertiliser to the soil as it could disturb the microbial development and avoid using chlorinated water to water your plants. If you have no other option please use your shower head and let the water fall from a distance into your bucket and/or let the water settle for 1-2 days. Most of the chlorine will evaporate during that time.
